Overview

The Cities Track will consist of the following phases.

Phase 1: Information Session and Submissions Open
Request for Letters of Interest Open: March 17, 2021 – May 14, 2021
Information Session: May 6, 2021 6PM ET

Please join us on May 6th, if you don’t use google calendar, please use this Zoom link at 6PM ET.

At the date and time specified above MFOL will host an information session that explains the Aid and Alliance program, giving interested parties the opportunity to ask questions, learn more about the vision of the program, and better understand the expectations of the program committee. The portal to submit letters of interest will open at 9pm EST on March 17, 2021. Applicants will need to complete this application to be considered.

Phase 2: Submission Deadline
May 14, 2021
At midnight eastern time on the date specified above, the application portal will close and MFOL will begin reviewing applications. The Committee will review and independently score applications on the following criteria:

1. Quality of Concept (Max of 25 Points)
2. Potential to Advance Aid and Alliance Objectives (Max 25 Points)
3. Urgency (Max of 20 Points)
4. Capacity (Max of 20 Points)
5. Uniqueness of Approach (Max of 10 Points)

Phase 3: Selection Notification
By the close of business on May 28, 2021, the committee will announce its selections, and successful organizations will be notified via email.

Phase 4: Mutual Aid
Mid-June 2021
Selected organizations will receive unrestricted grants of $8,000 for their ongoing operations. Organizations will provide MFOL with an updated budget and may be asked to complete a pre-project survey.

Phase 5: Trainings and Lab
Trainings: June 7-11, 2021
Mutual Aid Labs: June 14 to August 13, 2021 (rolling basis)
As part of Aid and Alliance, selected organizations will have an opportunity to attend trainings intended to deepen their understanding of mutual aid and comradery in the movement to end gun violence. Organizations from each City will partner together to develop a joint mutual aid project with MFOL that will receive $12,500, and the organizations from each city will participate in mutual aid labs that will help bolster and plan for their projects.

Phase 6: Alliance Projects
July 23 to September 7, 2021
This is the expected action period when organizations within each city will collaborate with MFOL to execute on a joint project. MFOL will provide support as requested to help each City meet their agreed upon goals.

Phase 7: Reflection and Post Surveys
September to November 2021
After the action is concluded, organizations will submit a statement that considers their projects and outcomes to date. Organizations are also required to complete a survey that provides feedback to improve future iterations of Aid and Alliance.
