March For Our Lives Celebrates Victory of Maxwell Frost, An Alum of the Movement and First Gen-Z Member Elected to U.S. Congress, in Florida’s 10th Congressional District

Frost served as March For Our Lives’ first National Organizing Director and ran on a winning platform of gun violence prevention

PARKLAND, Fla. — Today, voters elected a Gen-Z champion to the U.S. House of Representatives: a soaring victory and a marker of hope for the future, no matter the outcome on the national stage. Maxwell Frost, March For Our Lives’ first National Organizing Director, proved that when we fight, we win. An organizer who cut his teeth in gun violence prevention after the Sandy Hook and Parkland mass shootings, Maxwell may be one of the first Gen-Z members of congress in history, but he’s one of thousands of Gen-Z activists who came of age under the shadow of gun violence, and decided to do something about it.

In the last two election cycles, the youth vote shifted the outcome in favor of progressive candidates, and now we’re beginning to flex our political muscle by running for those very seats. We’re elated to have a champion in our corner who will take bold action to end gun violence and we’re excited for the change we’ll start to see as Gen-Z takes power.

Our polling shows that young people want bold, comprehensive solutions to gun violence and that we will reward politicians who commit to passing universal background checks, raising the age to buy a gun to 21 and banning assault weapons. Maxwell did just that in both his primary and in the general election, and it paid off. This should be a message to politicians everywhere.

The road to passing real, progressive policies at the local and federal level will be difficult, but this is just the beginning of a generational seachange, and we’re excited to usher it in.
